WHY READ YOUR METER?
As a customer who has not opted for a smart meter or is awaiting installation we arrange for your meter to be read in line with industry guidelines. Unfortunately these guidelines mean that not all meters are read every month, but of course you receive invoices monthly. Inevitably this means that some invoices we issue will be based upon estimated readings. These estimates are based on the information you provided to us at the time of your quotation and subsequent information regarding your supply received from the industry.
Your meter is read by independent third party meter read agencies, the same agencies that read meters for all suppliers across the UK electricity network. Minimum industry guidelines are in place for regularity and accuracy of readings.
To further enhance our service to you, by reading your own meter and providing us the information through a number of options, we can bill to your actual consumption from the beginning of your billing period up to the date of your meter read (subject to industry validation rules). We will then only estimate your consumption for the period from your meter read up to the final day of the billing period.
