READING YOUR METER
Waiting for your smart meter?
Dont worry, reading your existing meter is easy, whether it is a dial meter or a digital one. Your meter may have either a 5 or 6 digit reading.
DIAL METER
 |
Make a note of the number that the pointer has already passed. For example, if the pointer is almost on 4 write down 3. If the pointer is directly over the figure, say 6, write down that figure and draw a circle around it. If any of the circled figures are followed by a 9, reduce the circled figure by 1. Send the 5 or 6 digit number to us using the options above. To calculate your consumption of units used, subtract the previous reading shown on your bill from your reading.

DIGITAL METER
 |
A digital meter will have one or more registers (counters) to record consumption of electricity at different rates or tariffs. One example is day rate and a lower cost night rate. Make a note of all registers on your meter and send them to us by using the options above. To calculate your consumption of units used, subtract the previous reading shown on your bill from your reading for each of your registers.
